John Valentin was another solid player throughout his MLB career, that was never regarded as anything more than a reliable starter. Valentin could have been named an All-Star though, as he had some really nice seasons for the Boston Red Sox.
In 1995, Valentin had the best season of his career. He actually finished in the top-10 of the MVP voting that year, after hitting .298 with 27 home runs, 20 stolen bases and 102 RBI. Valentin also led the American League in doubles in 1997 with 47.
