2020 NBA Lottery Mock Draft

13. The New Orleans Pelicans

Mark Humphrey/Associated Press

The Pelicans are one of the most interesting teams in the league. They have a plethora of young talent, headlined by ZION and Brandon Ingram. The Pelicans should look to draft someone who can compliment Zion and Ingram’s game and New Orleans’ up-tempo style of play. Aaron Nesmith can be that guy.

The 6’6″, 213lbs, with an almost 7′ wingspan, forward from Vanderbilt can shoot the rock. Considered one of the best shooters in the draft, if not the best, Nesmith, shot more than four threes a game and made over 50% of them, accoridng to ESPN. He’s more than just a spot up shooter as well, he shot of the dribble, coming off screens, step-backs and pull-ups.

New Orleans needs shooters to spread the floor for Brandon Ingram to operate and Zion to do what Zion does. Nesmith can do that for New Orleans.

14. The Boston Celtics

Alexander Jones

The biggest need for the Celtics is size. They struggled mightily guarding Bam Adebayo in the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston needs someone who can protect the paint. and Jalen Smith can be that guy.

Smith is the prototypical big in today’s NBA. At 6’10” with a 7’2″ wingspan, Smith is a proven rim protecter. He’s very athletic and can run the floor with the best of them.

Additionally, Smith has got a good jumper for a guy his size. At Maryland, Smith shot 37% from beyond the arc shot 75% from the foul line.

Smith can be the guy the Celtics need to go against bigger teams like the Lakers, the Heat, and the Bucks.

This mock draft will probably be completely wrong, like most mock drafts out there, but that’s the fun with it all. Nobody knows what to expect, especially this year. The only thing to expect going into draft night is complete craziness.
