8. Don “Wink” Martindale

Martindale served as the Baltimore Ravens’ linebacker coach from 2012-2017 before earning a promotion to defensive coordinator in 2018. The Ravens finished first that year in total defense, and second in scoring defense.

The defense has been nearly as dominant as the one Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, and Ed Reid anchored together. It’s surprising that Wink had to wait all this time to receive a defensive coordinator role.

The Ravens certainly do not want to lose Martindale who was on staff for their Super Bowl 47 championship. However, this guy can’t be stuck as a defensive coordinator forever.

A head coaching role is in his future, and with the Cowboys defense being a top-five or top-ten in the league, Martindale could take them to a whole new level. Unlike Garrett, Martindale would not allow drama to fill his locker room.

As far as the offense goes, Martindale could find someone else to run that, but with his defensive abilities, this team could be a real contender.
