Bill Russell won 11 championships in his 13-year career, primarily due to his work on defense. Russell was able to contain other Hall of Fame centers such as Wilt Chamberlain, as the anchor to the Boston Celtics defense. Russell was known as a great shot blocker, although blocks were not recorded as a stat during his career. He was also a fantastic rebounder that could control the glass for his team. Russell was named to 11 All-Defensive teams and won five MVP awards in his career.
