NFL Awards 2020: MVP, Offensive and Defensive POY, Rookies, Coach, and Comeback Player

Big Ben has led the Steelers to a 9-0 record this season. After playing one and a half games last year, the QB missed most of 2019 due to elbow surgery. The team went 8-8 with Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph filling in. Besides rookie Chase Claypool, the Steelers’ offensive roster hasn’t changed much. Ben’s veteran leadership and presence have stabilized the offensive unit. During this comeback year, he has a 66.8 completion percentage, 2,267 passing yards, 22 TDs to only 4 INTs.

In the Running:

Alex Smith- QB, Washington Football Team

No one could argue with Smith awarded this honor. And ranking him behind Big Ben is potentially an unpopular decision. The quarterback suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in NFL history in 2018. Compounded with 17 surgeries and almost losing his life and leg, it is nothing short of a miracle Alex made his way back.

Aldon Smith- Edge, Dallas Cowboys

The former first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection has spent over four years away from the game. Smith has a long record of NFL substance abuse violations that threatened to cut short his career. On a historically bad Dallas defense, he has been one of the lone bright spots. He has 5 sacks this season, 24 solo, and 37 total tackles.
