NFL Awards 2020: MVP, Offensive and Defensive POY, Rookies, Coach, and Comeback Player

Somehow Patrick Mahomes is having a “quiet” season with 27 total touchdowns (2 rushing) and only one interception. Yes, let that sink in, ONE interception. I find that expectations for Mahomes are so great that people don’t appreciate how good his current numbers are. There seems to be no Super Bowl hangover at play for the Chiefs. The team is 8-1, second to only the Steelers. The 2018 MVP is looking to regain his title.

He orchestrates an offense that is exciting to watch. And with creative play-calling from OC Eric Bienemy, defenses are constantly on their heels. Mahomes can do it all. Sit in the pocket and pick a team apart or become a running threat. He also throws from almost any arm angle imaginable and makes quarterback look easy at times.

In The Running:

Aaron Rodgers- QB, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay has followed up their 13-3 2019 season with being 7-2 so far. Davante Adams had missed time, and so has Aaron Jones. The one constant has been #12. He has put the team on his shoulders and has only had one bad game versus Tampa Bay. Even in a “down” year last season, A-Rod had 26 passing touchdowns and four picks. This season through 9 games, he has the same number of passing TDs and only 3 INTs.

Kyler Murray- QB, Arizona Cardinals

Call me a prisoner of the moment, but there is something special about this kid. He is on pace to rush for 1,000 yards this season and is second to Cook with ten rushing touchdowns. Kyler also has a 68.8 completion percentage to go with almost 270 passing yards per game with 17 passing touchdowns. He could break Lamar Jackson’s QB rushing record from a year ago.

Murray has the potential to throw or run for a touchdown from literally anywhere in the field. Much like I explained about his coach Kliff Kingsbury, I could describe how overlooked he seems to be in the MVP race. The Cardinals have already exceeded last season’s win total with six. They currently sit atop the NFC West division, a season removed from finishing last.
