2020 NBA Free Agency

Top Free Agents That Could Be On The Move

  1. Fred VanVleet – Toronto Raptors (Unrestricted)

The 25 year old guard from Wichita State is coming off the best season of his career. Now, he’s looking to get PAID!

Despite his size, listed at 6’1″, VanVleet has proven that he his a viable offensive threat and a solid defender. Their’s no question that he is a starting point guard in today’s NBA. The only problem with VanVleet is that no team will likely pay him the amount he is looking for.

Most teams don’t have the financial flexibility this year because they are suiting up for next years free agency class that features the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Donovan Mitchell. That reason is why Toronto may decide to part ways with VanVleet.

If a team like the New York Knicks throws a lot of money at VanVleet, then Toronto will have to decide whether or not to keep him which will in turn hurt their chances next season to land a big-time free agent.

The Raptors have been rumored to be a possible suitor for Giannis. Do they really want to possible ruin their chances of getting a generational player in Giannis by keeping a guy in VanVleet that is a solid player, but don’t affect winning all that much?

Look for VanVleet to be on the move to a team with a lot of cap space.

2. Danilo Gallinari – Oklahoma City Thunder (Unrestricted)

Gallo is an attractive free agent for any contender. His combination of size, offensive ability and experience makes him a guy on most teams wish list.

Additionally, after trading Chris Paul to Phoenix, the Thunder are complete rebuilding mode. There’s no reason for Oklahoma City to keep the 32-year old European. However, they decide to use Gallo as sign-and-trade bait.

What contender wouldn’t want Danilo? It will be interesting to see where the smooth shooting Euro ends up.
