2020 NBA Free Agency

5. Mike Conley – Utah Jazz (ETO)

Conley is another guy likely to remain with his former team. It’s unlikely that Conley decides not to pick up his contract worth $34 million dollar in the 2020-21 season. With that being said, Utah might look to trade Conley and make Donovan Mitchell their main ball-handler.

Mitchell proved last season and in the bubble that he is more than capable of running the offense and being the main ball handler, and with combination of Conley’s poor 2019-20 season and his age, 33 years old, Utah might look to move on from the left-hander.

6. Andre Drummond – Cleveland Cavaliers (Player Option)

The 27 year old big man reportedly decided to opt in to his $28 million player option to remain in Cleveland. There’s really not much else to say about Andre Drummond.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to notice a trend with the last three free agents listed in this article. All have, or will, opt into their player option because no other team will pay them that amount of money for their services.

The thing about Drummond is this is, most likely, all that will be said about him all season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the most boring to watch teams in the NBA, and Drummond is one of the reasons why. Having said that, come trade deadline, Drummond may find himself on the move to a contender. That will probably be the most exciting thing that happens to the Cavs the entire 2020-21 season.

Unnecessary shots at Cleveland? Yes, but is anyone really argue that the Cavaliers are a fun basketball team? I don’t think so.
