2020 NBA Free Agency

4. Gordon Hayward – Boston Celtics (Player Option)

This is where free agency starts to get interesting.

Similar to DeRozan, Hayward is most likely to pick up his $34 million player option, cause, like DeRozan, no other team will pay him that amount of money. Having said that, since signing in Boston, things have not been good for Hayward and the Celts.

Hayward seems to always be injured, and with the amount of guards and wings the Celtics have, you would think that Boston would be better letting him go and putting their money elsewhere. However, watching the past Eastern Conference Finals, it was clear that Boston severely missed Hayward’s play.

When healthy, the dude is a legit all-star, but that’s the thing he hasn’t been healthy. Some rumors have been out their that The Celtics might look to perform a sign-and-trade with the Indiana Pacers. The rumored deal would send Hayward to Indiana and Myles Turner to Boston. This is the rare deal that would benefit both teams.

Expect Hayward to opt in to his player option, but with the possibly that Boston might decide to deal him out in a sign-and-trade. For all I know, it could be with a team nobody expects because THIS LEAGUE!
