Joe Thomas spent his entire career as a rose that grew in the middle of a sewer, as his excellence was wasted on one of the worst franchises in sports, the Cleveland Browns.

Thomas was a Pro Bowler in each of his first 10 seasons in the NFL, only missing that honor once in his last season when injuries limited him to seven games.

The Browns finally look to have turned the corner this year and have a bright future ahead of them. Unfortunately for Thomas, his body was no longer able to handle the grind of playing in the NFL and he had to retire prior to this season.
