Rui Hachimura Kicked In His Nuts So Hard That He Had Surgery

In February of 2016, Hachimura claimed to understand about 80 percent of the English language, but only spoke about 30-40 percent of it.

By April of 2016, Hachimura was still working towards passing the SAT to enter college. In May, he announced that he met the minimum GPA and SAT requirements to enter Gonzaga. He planned to play as a true freshman, was not redshirted by the college that year.

Hachimura made his college debut for the Bulldogs in November of 2016, only playing four minutes, but recording 1 point and 3 rebounds in that time. As a result, he became the fifth Japanese-born player to ever play NCAA Division I basketball.
