Five 2020 NFL Rookies That Have Outperformed Their Draft Position

Darnell Mooney: WR, Chicago Bears

Pick 173, PFF Grade 65.1

The fifth-round draft pick out of Tulane has made some splashes this season. While he has been inconsistent, so has the quarterback play of the Bears. His numbers haven’t been spectacular and his PFF grade is good but not great. But let’s look at a comparison of him versus two rookie first-rounders.

Henry Ruggs III: 17 receptions, 312 yards, 1 TD, PFF grade 57.2

Jalen Reagor: 19 receptions, 222 yards, 1 TD, PFF grade 59.8

Darnell Mooney: 36 receptions, 385 yards, 2 TD, PFF grade 65.1

As we can see, the Bears got a better value from the production at Mooney’s draft slot. I think he has the skills to be a playmaking threat, and if he ever gets a stable quarterback, we may see it come to fruition.
