Five 2020 NFL Rookies That Have Outperformed Their Draft Position

Michael Onwenu: OL, New England Patriots

Pick 162, PFF Grade 87.5

The 6’3″ 350 lb. tackle out of Michigan has been the definition of a Gem. He was taken in the sixth round by the Patriots in the last draft. While he only played an average of 37% of snaps in the first two games this season, he has started every game since.

I understand it may be difficult for an offensive lineman to stand out. But this rookie has done just that. Out of 631 snaps played, he has only allowed two sacks and committed only one penalty. What is confusing is how everyone, both scouts and GMs, seemed to miss on this guy. He grades eight points higher than Tristan Wirfs, the first-round tackle taken by Tampa Bay who is considered a stud.
