Breaking down the Sweet 16

South Region

1 Baylor v. 5 Villanova

This game is similar to the Gonzaga v. Creighton matchup. Villanova’s a good, solid team, but Baylor is just better in every aspect of the game. It’s as simple as that.

Expect Baylor to move past Villanova will ease. Well, that is unless Nova runs in zig-zags and confuses the Bears, but good news for Baylor fans that their not actual Bears, cause they could be a devastating strategy. Anyways, Scott Drew’s squad will advance to the Elite Eight. Book it!

3 Arkansas v. 15 Oral Roberts

I’m sorry to say, but I believe this is wear Oral Roberts Cinderella story ends.

Having said that, Arkansas is coming off to “so-so” performances in their first and second round matchups. Against Colgate, the Razorbacks were down by 14 points at one point in the first half, but they were able to storm back for a 85-68 victory. Then, a similar thing happened in their second round matchup against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders held a 13 point lead early in the second half, but Arkansas battled back and was able to survive with a 68-66 win.

Even though the Hogs are the favorites to win, this isn’t a Gonzaga or Baylor situation. Oral Roberts has a legit shot of moving on. In order for the Golden Eagles to win though, they have to control the glass.

Oral Roberts needs to keep the Razorbacks of the offensive glass, so they limit Arkansas’ second chance opportunities. That will be a tall task for the Summit League Champs because Arkansas is one big team. With that being said, the fifteenth seed was able to knock off Ohio State and Florida to reach this point, so it’s hard to count them out at this point. However, I’d still be on the Hogs to advance to their first Elite Eight appearance since 1995.
