March Madness Chaos: Breaking Down All the Action From the First Weekend of the “Big Dance”

From the Big Ten’s Disappointment to the Pac-12’s dominance, the NCAA Tournament has been full of Madness

The first weekend of the NCAA Men’s College basketball Tournament has been crazy thus far.

The Pac-12, the most overlooked Power Five Conference in basketball this season, has dominated the tourney thus far. Every team that made the tourney from the “Conference of Champions” has advanced to the Sweet 16: USC, UCLA, Oregon and Oregon State.

On the flip side, the Big Ten, the conference every expert and fan deemed be the best in the nation, has gotten beaten to a pulp. Out of the nine teams that made the Big Dance, the most from any conference, only one, Michigan, remains.

And of course, there were a bunch of upsets. According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, “the first weekend of the 2021 tournament has experienced the most upsets prior to the round of 16 in tournament history.”

With that all being said, let’s breakdown all the madness from the first weekend of the men’s NCAA Tournament, starting with what makes the Big Dance so exciting: the upsets.
