Young Stars Finally Fulfilling Their Potential

As these young players are starting to come into their own, we have to remember that we can’t write them off too early. Devin Booker and Brandon Ingram were both 18 years old when they were drafted, and they were playing against guys who were much older, much more experienced, and much more developed on the basketball court. Everyone assumed that Brandon Ingram was a bust before he could legally drink. Devin Booker was given the label of a non-winner before he was allowed to rent a car. With these players entering the league so young, and the ability for players to keep their play at a high level the older they get, rookies and young players need to be given time to develop and grow and condition themselves for the 82-game season. Remember, both LeBron James and Steph Curry were 27 when they won their first titles. It’s rare for players to come into the league the way Trae Young and Luka Doncic have: superstars, immediately ready to take their team to the next level. Some players need time to work on their game, and some players need time to let their front office give them some help. Because while these two have been familiar names for a while, they’re just getting started.
