What the Wall for Westbrook swap means for both the Rockets and Wizards

Now for Washingtons side of the deal

Westbrook will reunite with his former head coach, Scott Brooks, in D.C. The former MVP will team up with all-star guard, Bradley Beal, which immediately makes them one of the best backcourts in the NBA.

This deal puts the Wizards right into playoff contention. They aren’t in the upper echelon of the East with teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Brooklyn Nets. However, the Wiz are in the tier right below that level, with teams like the Indiana Pacers, the Toronto Raptors, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Orlando Magic.

As for the basketball fit in D.C., it’s actually a pretty good fit, unlike Houston. Beal and Westbrook actually complement each other’s games quite nicely as a matter of fact.

Westbrook is an exceptional creator on the offensive end. He’s great at setting up teammates for easy buckets which will boat well for Beal whose one of the best shooters in the game.

Additionally, both Beal and Westbrook can create their own shot at anytime, and as every NBA fan knows, this is the key to winning in the playoffs.

Having just one guy who can take over a game is what every team strives for. Having two? That’s the difference between good teams and great teams. Are the Wizards a great team? No, far from it, but they have some nice pieces in Davis Bertans, Thomas Bryant, Rui Hachimura, and Deni Avdija. The Wizards will be a fun playoff team, something they haven’t been in a long time.
