16. Houston Astros Trade for Gerrit Cole

Gerrit Cole was traded to the Houston Astros prior to the 2018 season to add another starting pitcher to the front of their rotation. Cole was excellent for the Astros, going 15-5 with a 2.88 ERA.

Cole struck out a whopping 276 batters in 200 1/3 innings pitched and was named an All-Star. Houston still has Cole under team control for one more season.
