Dave Winfield was another two-sport star in college, leading the University of Minnesota’s baseball and basketball teams during his collegiate career. Winfield led the Golden Gophers to their first basketball Big Ten Conference championship in 53 years when they won it in 1972. They have only won the Big Ten once since then.

As a baseball player, Winfield had 465 home runs, over 3,000 career hits and was a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
