NBA Playoff Preview: The Utah Jazz

Going back to Utah’s lack of star power, it’s been proven year-in and year-out that the most important thing a team can have in the postseason is a player that can create their own shot. In today’s NBA, with the amount of talent across the league, it’s become a must to have at least two of those types of players to even be considered a legitimate contender.

Even the Utah’s one legitimate star, Donovan Mitchell, has some concerns.

Recently, Mitchell injured his ankle, but according to ESPN’s Adrain Wojnarowski, MRI scans reveled no structural damage to Mitchell’s right ankle. He’s expected to miss several games before he’s cleared to return.

Now, health isn’t the reason fans and insiders are skeptical about Mitchell. He’s been quite the durable player throughout his young career. The question about Mitchell is whether or not he can be the best player on a title team.

For the first time in his career, Mitchell has some major pressure on his shoulders. Only time will tell if Mitchell will shrink up when the lights shine brightest or rise to the moment when all the pressure is on his shoulders.

Then, once you look past Mitchell, there aren’t many shot creators for the Jazz. Well, that is players that you would want to trust in the postseason.

Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanovic and Mike Conley are all solid players, capable of creating their shot, but not ones that invoke much trust in postseason?
