LeBron James On Eventually Passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar In The All Time Scoring List

“I would be lying if I said I don’t see it. Obviously I’m not trying to say, ‘OK, well if I play this amount of time, if I average this’ … I’m not doing that because I’ve never done that with my career. I’ve always just kind of let it happen. Whatever happens, happens. But I see it. I do see it,” James told Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press.

So far, James has scored 33,378 points and is currently trailing Kobe Bryant(33,643), Karl Malone(36,928), and Abdul-Jabbar(38,387).

During this season, James is averaging 25.3 points per game, and still has a couple more years left on his contract. With this being said, James is very likely to retire as the league’s all-time leading scorer, a record that he is likely to hold for decades to come.

It’s looking more likely that James is going to pass to Bryant very soon — maybe even this season! LeBron is only 265 points away from passing him and with averaging 25 points a game, it will only take him 11 games to reach that total. Aside from the two being historic scoring legends, they have something else in common — they will have both broke their all-time scoring records in a Lakers uniform.
