After Detroit, there were rumors that Smith was not a great locker room guy, which NBA teams feared that his lack of direction and playing style would hurt their franchise.

Smith turned into one of the worst three-point shooters the league has ever seen, but he continued taking them nonetheless. He was stuck and with time evaporating, he was becoming an unwanted player in the league.

After the Pistons waived him in 2014, Smith bounced around the league, but was unable to find success after joining a list of teams.
