Colin Kaepernick Wanted “Exorbitant” Salary To Play In XFL

Luck claims that the conversations happening between the XFL and Kaepernick’s camp took place about a year ago, but he said that talks with the quarterback after initial interest on the XFL’s side never got far at all.

Luck went on to mention the salary restrictions for the XFL and talked about how with the XFL being a new league, they could not possibly afford to pay Kaepernick the kind of money he was asking for.

Per TMZ:

“We have some pretty significant salary restrictions, you know,” Luck said in an interview with NPR over the weekend.

“We’re a start-up league, so we want to make sure that we can be fiscally responsible and fiscally prudent.

And the, you know, salary requirements that some folks, you know, shared with us were in our case exorbitant, so we, you know, couldn’t go down that path.”
