3. Shohei Ohtani
Shohei Ohtani was a star before he even played a game in the MLB, as he was dubbed the “Japanese Babe Ruth” due to his ability to both pitch and hit at the highest level.
Ohtani had plenty of hype to live up to coming into 2018 but he rose to the occasion and met all of those lofty expectations.
As a starting pitcher, Ohtani made 10 starts and pitched to a 3.31 ERA. At the plate, Ohtani hit 22 home runs and 61 RBI. Following the season Ohtani was named the AL Rookie of the Year.
