The Time Michael Jordan Retrieved Dennis Rodman From Vegas For 1998 Finals

After Rodman was forced to act like a normal NBA player during a Scottie Pippen injury absence, Rodman was itching to blow off some steam once Pippen returned. Rodman asked their head coach, Phil Jackson, for permission for a short Las Vegas vacation, and Jackson granted him permission for 48 hours.

However, when Jordan heard about this vacation, he was not too thrilled. Jordan was not a fan of Rodman’s absence because of the fact they might not ever see him again and needed him for that Finals series.

In the documentary, Jordan briefly tells the story:

“Phil called me and said ‘Dennis wants to tell you something.’

When Dennis wanted to tell me something, I knew it was not something that I f– wanna hear…”

“Phil, you let this dude go to vacation, we not gonna see him. You let him go to Vegas, we definitely not gonna see him.”
