NBA Prohibits Players & Teams From Using Auto-Delete Messaging Apps

“Our general counsel encouraged us to get on Signal… There’s auto-delete based on the rules you set, and that helps us avoid FOIA requests.” 

They later explained Signal became “the main method of communication between the administration and our [athletic] staff.”

The NBA now requires teams to keep records of every contract-related conversation for a minimum of one season. According to the Athletic, this includes training records, endorsement records, even a list of players of interest to sign or trade for, & more.
