Jimmie Johnson “slowing down” in 2020

Johnson is tied for most NASCAR top division wins with seven. He’s tied with two members of the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s inaugural class, Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty. He has also won the Daytona 500 two times and won five consecutive championships from 2006-2010.

Following the 2020 season, Jimmie will miss his first Cup race since his debut year in 2001. He has had a streak since November of that year. Johnson has not won a Cup race since June 2017.

When asked about what is to come, Johnson responded, “I need to take a deep breath and just see what kind of comes from there and put my family first instead of racing first for once, and take it from there.”
