In the 2015-16 season, Parsons ran into the worst injury of his career. He suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee. This is when the Memphis Grizzlies become part of the story.

Although he was coming off his second major knee surgery within a year, the Grizzlies thought Parsons was worth the risk. They offered him more money that he had seen in his life, a four-year $94 million contract in 2016.
