David Fizdale Was Set Up To Fail

RJ Barrett has been playing like a potential franchise cornerstone so far this season

Going into this past offseason, the Knicks needed a point guard and another wing to pair with RJ Barrett. They started out well in signing Julius Randle from New Orleans. Randle stepped up in Davis’s absence last season, and has potential to form a solid 1-2 punch with Barrett. Then the Knicks kept signing more power forwards, 3 to be exact. They signed Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, and Marcus Morris, to play a position that is becoming more and more obsolete. They did almost nothing to solve the Point Guard problem as well, letting Mudiay walk and signing Elfrid Payton. Mudiay has gone on to be a valuable role player for the Jazz, and is averaging more points than Payton while shooting 13% better from the field.
