John ‘Hondo’ Havlicek, one of the greatest players in NBA history, passed away on Thursday at the age of 79. Havlicek spent his entire 16-year career with the Boston Celtics and was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984.
It is with great sadness we have learned that Celtics Legend and Hall of Famer John Havlicek has passed away peacefully today at the age of 79. He will be dearly missed by his Celtics family.

Havlicek’s iconic moment came in 1965, when he helped the Celtics clinch the Eastern Conference Finals by stealing an inbounds pass in the final seconds of game 7 against Wilt Chamberlain’s Sixers.
