Will Cam Newton be a Panther in 2020?

A few weeks ago, Tony Pauline reported the Chargers would want to draft a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. While this is still likely, it has also been reported that they want a quarterback with experience. Although the Panthers lost, Cam Newton did lead them to a Super Bowl in early 2016. Newton also won MVP that season.

As for the Carolina Panthers, trading Newton would save them $18.6 million. They have already fired head coach Ron Rivera after a 5-8 start to the season. The team is most probably going to be making changes in attempts to get back to what they were a couple years ago.

However, Newton may not be the right guy for the Panthers anymore. Panthers backup quarterback, Kyle Allen, is averaging 3.9 touchdowns per game and has 2,750 yards in 11 games since taking over.
