What Could Happen To The NBA If The Coronavirus Outbreak Becomes More Severe

In the short term, the NCAA March Madness is likely to get postponed or even canceled. Leaving a lot of college players without an opportunity to increase their draft stock before the combine starts. For many players, the NCAA tournament is crucial. Players that are on the fence of being a lottery pick or even a 2nd round pick get a shot to prove they belong in the big league.

Canceling the tournament will be a huge blow to those players and teams that would miss out ultimately on potentially drafting them.

As time continues, the virus will spread as the people carrying the virus but haven’t shown symptoms continue to spread it.

In May, NBA draft combine takes place in Chicago. Assuming things are not under control by then, that will be canceled. In addition, if this is the case than we know the NBA season will still be under suspension. This means the regular season suspension now spills over into the playoff calendar.

Now let’s just assume come mid-late May those that caught the coronavirus from March to late April/ early May are now healthy again. Do we know if/how contagious they are? Is another round of outbreak(s) possible?
