Top 20 Feel-Good Sports Stories of 2018

16. David Wright’s Final Game Before Retirement

David Wright is the greatest position player in the history of the Mets franchise and is beloved in New York.

Unfortunately, the end of his career has not been as great as the start, as Wright has dealt with a myriad of injuries that left him only able to play 75 regular season games since 2015.

While Wright was unable to continue his career, he fought through rehab for two years to attempt a comeback and the Mets granted him his wish to play at the highest level one more time.

Wright played in two games, getting one pinch hit at-bat and then getting his final start at third base.

While it was not the storybook ending that Wright would have expected at the start of his career, it was pretty damn close.
