There are two reasons that players now move around the league; to contend for a championship, or because they have to “get the bag.”

The sad part about it is that the loyalty aspect works both ways in the NBA today, when players show their loyalty to a team, and still get traded. We have seen this with Isaiah Thomas, Blake Griffin and most recently, DeMar DeRozan in the trade for Kawhi Leonard.

In Dirk’s case, however, there was never any doubt in his mind about him leaving the Mavericks, but it’s not like other teams did not try to recruit him.
