At the beginning of Fultz’s rookie season, he played through a shoulder injury that evidently messed up his way of shooting. The way he shot in college — definitely not the way he shoots now.
However, no doctor was able to diagnose Fultz’s injury, or a cause for his poor shooting form or the pain that he was experiencing.
After a number of unsuccessful doctor appointments, Fultz was finally diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), a physical injury that affects the nerves between the neck and shoulder.
