The Raiders May be Ready to Leave Derek Carr Behind

Carr has played almost the entirety of each season for the Raiders in the past six season since being drafted. In 2016, Carr led the team to their first winning season since 2002. The team made it to the playoffs but due to an injury at the end of the season, he was unable to play. Since that season, in which he threw for 3,937 yards and 28 touchdowns, he has been unable to do the same.

Carr signed a five year $125 million contract extension with the Raiders in 2017. The contract would be set to end after the 2022 season. When the contract was signed, Carr was the NFL’s highest paid player.
