The Game That Turned LeBron James Into King James

Leading up to Game 6, every analyst and NBA expert had opinions on how they believed the series would unfold. The chatter from the reporters go on as follows: He stood on the edge of the worst professional embarrassment in the modern sports era. He lathered in the star power that came with “King James,” the most recognizable nickname in sports. He lacked the “killer instinct” of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. How could LeBron be the best player in the world without a portfolio to match?

This is not how James joining the Big Three, with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, was supposed to happen.

Year One was already a failure for the team, after being defeated by Dirk Nowitzki and his Dallas Mavericks. In Game 4, James struggled to score, finishing with a total of 8 points.
