The 20 Worst Trades in NBA History

4. Portland Trail Blazers trade Moses Malone to the Braves

The Portland Trail Blazer ended up trading Moses Malone to the Buffalo Braves after drafting him because they had also acquired Maurice Lucas in the draft and felt the two players had redundant skill-sets. Lucas had a nice NBA career, as a four-time All-Star that helped Portland win the championship in 1977.

While Lucas was good, he was no Moses Malone. Malone won three MVP’s, was a 12-time All-Star and averaged over 20-points per game across his 22-year career.
