Steph Curry’s Career Could’ve Looked Very Different if it Wasn’t for Keke

Soon enough, the reason for Curry’s ankle issues were discovered. He had thick scar tissue and zombie meat in his ankle. It only took 90 minutes to figure this out, compared to the years it took with no answer.

Recovery only took 3-4 months after what was the Warriors best case scenario and the “least intrusive outcome” according to Curry.

In 2013, Keke Lyles became the performance director for the Warriors. Lyles decided it was best for Curry to take a different approach in training by “alleviating the stress on Curry’s ankles by building up strength in his hips and core.”

Warriors teammate, Klay Thompson credited Curry saying, “The man was always in the gym. Steph just stuck with the routine. He works on his body as much as he works on his jumpshot.”

Lyles transformed Curry’s routine and helped him become stronger and more confident.
