Sacramento Kings Passed On Luka Doncic Because Vlade Divac Didn’t Like His Dad

Luka’s dad, Sasa Doncic, is a professional basketball coach and former EuroLeague player. Along with playing with teams in Slovenia and France, it’s likely that Divac and Sasa crossed paths at some point.

However, from a basketball standpoint, it still makes sense that the Kings selected Bagley over Doncic.

The year prior, the Kings selected De’Aaron Fox, who has been their primary ball handler, and as we have seen this year, Doncic loves playing the game with the ball in his hands.
