Patrick Beverly Never Forgets his Childhood

Patrick Beverly grew up an only child but Donovan Morris felt like a little brother. Beverly and Morris “raised like brothers” and inseparable. One night, Beverly got a call that Morris had been shot multiple times and died.

Two days after Morris’ death, Beverly got an offer to play in Ukraine. He credits the death as a wake up call to his family and claims it “forced me to go hustle – the right way.”

Beverly believes if he weren’t in the NBA, he “would’ve been the best drug dealer in the world.” However, he is thankful for the turn around and said, “I can’t let myself down. I can’t let my hood down, my area down. I can’t let Chicago down. I got to put on for my city.”
