NCAA: Chase Young Suspended For Accepting Loan From Family Friend

College athletes are not supposed to get paid based on their athletic performance, but what if it’s just a small loan by a family friend?

Chase Young is a defensive end for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the NCAA recently suspended him for a game for accepting a small loan.

As ESPN reports, the school released a statement confirming the situation and that he will not play “due to a possible NCAA issue from 2018 that the Department of Athletics is looking into,” per source.

Young has taken the latest NCAA conversation by storm. College athletes are not supposed to get paid based on athletic performance, but Young accepted a small loan by a family friend, claiming that it had been repaid in full.

Attorney and former NCAA investigator Tim Nevius said that he is working with Young on his controversial suspicion.

Young previously missed the game on Saturday against the Maryland Terrapins, and is questionable on when he may return.

Young has proven himself to be a top contender for the Heisman trophy, and any more games of suspension could certainly impact his chances.
