MLB Lifts Their Marijuana Ban For Minor League Teams

As part of MLB’s effort to crack down on opioid use, they have agreed to stop testing players in the minor league for weed.

The league already did not test players in the big league for marijuana, but the rule change is a big deal for everyone else in the sport.

Previously, players received a hefty suspension penalty for testing positive. A 25-game suspension for the first offense, a 50-game suspension for a second offense, a 100-game suspension for a third, and a lifetime ban for the fourth.

Some may ask, “Why now?”
