Los Angeles Lakers: Anthony Davis Dominates over Grizzlies

With a 29 point victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, Lakers’ Forward Anthony Davis finished the game with a dominant performance.

Last night, the Los Angles Lakers faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies, in which Anthony Davis was listed questionable to play as he suffered a minor shoulder injury in their previous contest against the Charlotte Hornets.

The medical staff cleared him to play after some pregame warm-up routines in a destructing career performance. Davis finished the game with 40 points and 20 rebounds, a task no Lakers’ player has accomplished since Shaquille O’Neal.

Davis broke two of his career records against the young Grizzlies team; one for free throws attempted with a total of 27, and the other for free throws made with a total of 26. Davis also broke the Lakers’ franchise record for free throws made, with the record previously held by Dwight Howard in his first stint with the Lakers at 25 free throws made in 39 attempts, per source.

Davis has become the foundation for the Lakers’ offense, which is why the team will feed him the ball constantly during the early stages in the game. His teammates have learned that if you get him going, there is no slowing him down.

Davis accomplished his dominating performance in only the first three quarters of the game, finishing at 31 minutes. This is a task that has not been achieved since 1954, when the shot clock was first introduced, per source.

Davis will have plenty of time to rest his sore shoulder as their next match-up will come Friday night against the Dallas Mavericks at 9:30 ET, a game that will be highly competitive as they go against Rookie of the Year, Luka Doncic, and newly acquired former New York Knicks star, Kristaps Porzingis.
