LeBron James: Meeting Michael Jordan Was Like Meeting God

James is right about not putting scoring as a priority in his career. He is currently leading the league in assists with the Los Angeles Lakers at 10.8 assists per game.

James reached that playoff milestone more than 14 years after shaking hands with his idol on April 8th, 2003, following a game between the Wizards and Cavaliers in Jordan’s 15th final season.

Although he has elected to wear number 23 for the longer duration of his career, he spoke against it even being an option six years into the league. James said that Jordan deserved the Jackie Robinson treatment, with a league wide retirement of the number 23.

“I feel like no NBA player should wear 23. I’m starting a petition, and I’ve got to get everyone in the NBA to sign it. Now, if I’m not going to wear No. 23, then nobody else should be able to wear it.”
