Coincidentally, before what would have been his first trip back to Boston, Irving injured his shoulder during a game earlier this month. He did not travel with the team on their current road trip and missed 4 games before that. Two of the games on the road trip include Irving’s former teams: Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.
Friday night, Kendrick Perkins put out his conspiracy about the injury, tweeting “Kyrie looked at the schedule before the season started and planned this whole injury thing because he didn’t want to go back to Boston this upcoming week!!! He didn’t want that smoke in the Bean Town. Smh.”

People responded in agreement to Perkins’ remarks and even made some of their own jokes about the situation.
Irving has not practiced all week and is undergoing daily treatment. However, he does not feel he is 100 percent and ready to return just yet.
