Former Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak was hired earlier this week to return and serve as the offensive coordinator under newly hired coach Vic Fangio.
OK, I was just told Gary Kubiak will be offensive coordinator. After going through process hoping for younger coach and having Kubiak in broader role, Broncos concluded they feel more comfortable with Kubiak. Fangio did say he liked Kubiak as OC during interview. #9sports

However, it was reported on Friday that Kubiak has decided to not come on board. Kubiak led the Broncos to a Super Bowl win in 2015, before retiring due to health issues in 2017. According to Adam Schefter, philosophical differences will prevent Kubiak from ascending to OC. Fangio spoke about his respect for Kubiak at his introductory presser yesterday, but several key assistant coach positions were yet to be filled.
Assistant shocker: Gary Kubiak will not be Denver’s offensive coordinator, league sources tell ESPN.
After lengthy discussions, Denver and Kubiak had different ideas on staffing and offensive philosophies. Both sides going in different directions.
