Derrick Rose On Kobe Bryant Teaching Him To Adapt

Derrick Rose’s comeback story is unlike any other. It all started when Drose scored a career-high 50 points in Minnesota 2 years ago. Now, he’s coming off a career-high in field goal shooting with 49% from the floor while averaging 18 points per game. As a slasher coming off severe injuries, he needed to adapt to a game that favored shooters. Rose opened up about the adjustments he needed to make which he learned from Kobe Bryant in order to fit in with the new-look NBA and compete with the high-scoring point guards like Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving.

Derrick Rose said on the “Pushin Thru'” podcast:

“I will have to bring Kobe into it. If you look at his career, people see how great he is, his work ethic was crazy, but to play 20 years, you gotta be able to adapt. Not totally change your game but adapt little nuances of the game.”

“Kobe showed with work ethic, that with time, you can actually work on those skills. So with him making it, it gave me a chance to see him up close and how he became the player he is. He was paying attention to the way the game was changing.”
