This injury will be a test of character for the Mavericks. Despite falling to the Heat on Saturday, the Mavericks are still third in the Western Conference. However, with a tough schedule ahead, they will need to look elsewhere for inspiration with Doncic sidelined.

Doncic has been a stunning MVP candidate this season. He was averaging better than 30 points, nearly 10 rebounds and nine assists prior to Saturday night, and he still ranks third in player efficiency rating (PER) despite playing just a couple minutes prior to the injury, per source.

Doncic also became the first player in NBA history to record a pair of 40-point triple-doubles after torching the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night.
