Exiled Cavs swingman J.R. Smith will finally be granted his freedom of the team after he was unable to be traded away. Smith played a handful of games at the beginning of the 2018-2019 season, before the Cavs sent him home after he publicly admitted that the team was tanking the season.
Barring a last-minute trade, the Cavs are expected to waive JR Smith today, a league source said.

Smith was a huge part of their 2016 championship team, and was entering into the final season of a four-year, $57 million contract.
